Biography
Roberto Minerva is the Head of Innovative Architectures within the Future Centre in the Strategy Department of Telecom Italia. He works on advanced scenarios derived from the application of emerging ICT technologies with innovative business models. Roberto has built over the years a personal divergent view and vision on the future of communications far from the dominant mainstream: software and IT solutions will dominate and take over the old traditional solutions (and way of thinking) of Telcos. He puts together a passion for research with the needs to move it to practical use and exploitation. Since 1987 Roberto has been involved in the development of Service Architectures for Telecom (TINA, OSA/Parlay and SIP), in activities related to IMS, and in the definition of services for the Business market (context-awareness, ambient intelligence and automotive). His current research interests include Internet of Things and 5G, Software Network (self-organization, peer to peer), Smart Cities and leverage of Cultural Heritage.
